As usual a thoughtful column. You ask a question that seems to not have an answer other than most Indiana and Indianapolis area citizens and voters do not seem to care about how our elected official set priorities and spend money. In Indiana, as long as Republicans are elected, the Chamber's voice is heard above most others, and taxes aren't raised, most voters shrug their shoulders and pay little attention to what is going on. Remember, less than 20% of voters elected the current bunch of politicians.

The fans, be they Republican or Democrat, apparently want or don't care that their tax dollars are spent subsidizing their beloved sports teams. Whether there is an appreciable return on the 'investment' is debatable, even after weighing all of the intangibles.
